i had dinner with ghostface: sxsw 2006, part one

just to get it out of the way, i had dinner with nick and will from the fader, the def jam promotions guy, ghostface and trife at pf changs. it was pretty neat. highlights include def jam homie saying 'shakey dog' is one of the "top five hip hop songs ever" (slow down) and ghostface getting pissed off at the idea of the restaurant throwing away leftovers. oh yeah, and ghost had no idea that dilla reused the beats he bought for donuts! how about that?

but let's try and get a little sequential:

things that happened before SXSW

- did a bunch of shows with a bunch of bands (meligrove band, the ladies and gentlemen)

- met the lovely and talented alex hughes in kingston, ontario, we are now best friends:

- opened for hot chip (world's nicest people) and born ruffians in toronto (where i did a song with hot chip) and montreal:

- saw def jux with eli and weez-l, immediately after getting accosted by crackheads in front of the silver dollar in toronto, after i played there for CMW:

- got bored at mstrkrft show, went back to hotel to see raekwon in the lobby. tell him 'hey, i sort of did a show with you today'. his response: 'i have no idea what you're talking about'

- generate mosh pit in brantford, ontario, all ages shows are ultimately superior to other shows

- film music video for 'black hand' in steam plant in montreal for 13 hours. go insane, stare at colored pipes:

and rap in a lab coat in front of a mock edmonton:

- i busted my ass at club lambi, which looked like the set of the school dance from back to the future:

- inbetween rapping, filming and eating poutine with skratch bastid, i was allowed to stay with the super talented camilla wynne ingr from the sunset rubdown at her crib in montreal for a few days:

and then i left for texas. i start on that soon soon soon, this shit is hard to type out.

bangers later.
