can anyone agree that timbo is like 20 years ahead anyone else producing pop music today? throughout this whole album, the drum work is so mean and in the foreground. i'm playing the muchmusic vma pre-party with alexisonfire and the stills (it's the day before the actual thing) but i'm gonna make it a point to befriend timbaland by the end of the weekend (he's playing the show with nelly).

Roscoe P. Coldchain - Whut Itz All (Prod. DJ Premier)
fucking awesome, boom bap meets virginia, this is a great idea for a guy who's been on the backburner for absolutely no reason. this one reminds me of some mid-nineties krs shit, except with an offbeat flow not unlike that of sadat x. i love this guy's style, he's completely off the beat for the whole track but it all works and makes coherent sense in the end. 'how i don't love the kids?', he's got major charisma and premo definitely shows up.

Rollie, this Roscoe joint is some classic Premier shit. Can't believe the Primo/ Alchemist/ Kanye/ Timbo/ Neptunes production on his never-was debut actually never was. Depressing.

Glow is almost devoid of genre- so expertly produced, that every sound is made in name of the song.
I downloaded that Furtado track the second I heard that synth squelch. Like, instantly.
someone last night told me that timbaland has a team of ghost producers like dre... i personally have trouble believing that. you ever hear such a scandalous thing?

the whole "Dr. Dre is shit because he has a few dudes who work with him" thing should be stopped immediately. Dre himself has always said that it's true that he has people that work with him, but the thing is that it's central to his style of producing in that he's a producer in the Quincy Jones mode.
In any case, none of his so called ghost producers ever put out work as good as him.
