PART ONE

so this is it for me. after this week of 100 songs, i'm retiring from the blog game. i keep getting shut down, i don't have time to maintain it and frankly it's time to get more focused on my b.i.

so here's the theme:

this year, rap and r&b came back to the forefront, except all the beats sound like dj tiesto dancefloor trance shit (thanks a lot timbo) and lil' wayne is the best rapper in the world. if someone told me this 10 years ago, i'd be like 'you're a frontasaurus rex, my name is rollie and i am currently listening to sticky fingaz/whatever promo my dad gave me that week'. that is what i would've said. continuing my trance theory, T.I's guest verse on the one blood remix sounds more processed than a cher song. she'd probably come harder on that track too.

anyway, this year was also about dancing and pretending to like electronic music. justice seriously pounded the floor this year, making them sorta like the indianapolis colts. 2006 singles : regular season :: 2007 album : playoffs. i don't think they'll make it past kansas city (simian mobile disco). they have a better running offense and indy will never defend against the rush (james ford = larry johnson). no one knows what i'm talking about.

tv on the radio made one of the best beats of the year, the clipse are this year's cam'ron (yet still manage to brick on billboard) and nelly furtado comes through and becomes way relevant! cool, man. crazy. speaking of, gnarls barkley is nominated for several grammys (!!!!) and could win album of the year. i said 'art of noise' from 2004 should've been the next 'hey ya' and i said 'crazy' could be huge with the right push. good for him, he was due.

fuck the bullshit. we should all be happy to be alive. this is 2006 and these are the songs.
